Regulations of the competition entitled My backyard rain garden

This competition is carried out as part of the project entitled Mitigating the effects of climate change through the development of a green-blue infrastructure system in the city of Nowa Ruda, implemented by the Municipality of Nowa Ruda as part of the call for proposals for the implementation of investments in the field of green-blue infrastructure in cities, financed from the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021.

2. Increasing the interest of the residents of the Municipality of Nowa Ruda in the possibilities of using solutions related to the management of rainwater.
3. Creating and developing initiatives to care for the environment in which we live.
4. Inspiring the inhabitants of the Municipality of Nowa Ruda to create an environmentally friendly atmosphere.
5. Encouraging residents to spend time outdoors and take care of their immediate surroundings.
6. Encouraging residents to actively participate in events organized by the Municipality of Nowa Ruda.

III. Contest participants

All willing residents of the City of Nowa Ruda can join the competition, who will send by Polish mail to the address of the City of Nowa Ruda Rynek 1 57-400 Nowa Ruda or submit the competition works in person from June 5 to October 20, 2023.

1. Procedure for submitting a competition entry

The condition for participation in the competition is to send a competition application or deliver it in person to the City Hall in Nowa Ruda during the working hours of the facility together with personal data (name, surname, telephone number, address where the rain garden submitted for the competition is located). Submission to the competition is tantamount to consent to the processing of personal data of the competition participant in accordance with the regulation on the protection of personal data of April 27, 2016 (Official Journal EU L 119 of 04/05/2016).

1. Description

Participants of the competition send or deliver photographic documentation presenting the rain garden (at least 2 photos) and a list of plants used in the garden. Picture format min. 10×15. It is acceptable to print on a printer in good quality on photographic paper. Photos must be clear, allowing both the general appearance of the garden and, depending on the size, also individual parts. The list of plants in a handwritten form must be legible, we recommend printing out a text file: font size 12 Times New Roman. The list of plants must contain the full Polish and Latin names.

Evaluation criteria and scoring

1. For choosing the right place for a rain garden 1-5 points.
2. For the selection of hydrophyte plants 1-10 points.
3. For the development of space in the garden (use of space, selection of plants for the site) 1-10 points.
4. For aesthetic values of both plants and order in the garden 1-5 points.

Each member of the committee will award individual points on the basis of which the average grade will be calculated.

VII. competition committee

The evaluation is carried out by a four-member competition committee, selected and announced by the Ordinance of the Mayor of Nowa Ruda. The committee consists of employees of the Nowa Ruda City Hall. The locations of the gardens submitted for the competition may be verified by the competition committee. The decision of the competition committee is final and cannot be appealed.

VIII. Problems addressed by the announced competition

1. Rainwater management program in the Municipality of Nowa Ruda.
2. Insufficient knowledge of residents on the possibility of using rainwater.
3. Low interest in caring for the immediate surroundings.
4. Insufficient interest of residents in work in home gardens, care of green areas.
5. Insufficient activity of the society in activities organized by the Nowa Ruda City Hall.
6. Settlement of the competition, announcement of winners and awarding of prizes

The prizes in the competition are co-financed by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.

The main material prizes (electric scooters) will be awarded to 5 participants who score the highest number of points awarded by the competition committee. All participants of the competition will receive a gift in the form of a material bag. The results of the competition along with a photo of the garden and the name of the participant of the competition will be announced on October 27, 2023 on the website of the City of Nowa Ruda and on the Zielono-bieska Nowa Ruda fanpage. The winners of the competition will be informed by phone about the date and place of the prize giving. Material prizes will be presented by the Mayor of Nowa Ruda, Tomasz Kiliński.

Information clause

According to Art. 13 section 1 and section 2 of the general regulation on the protection of personal data of April 27, 2016.

3) Your personal data will be processed in connection with participation in the competition entitled “My Backyard Rain Garden”:

– Article 6 para. 1 lit. c, the general regulation on the protection of personal data of April 27, 2016;

4)  the recipients of your personal data will be entities authorized by law, the competition committee;

5) Your personal data will not be transferred to a third country/international organization;

6)  In connection with the processing of personal data by the Administrator, you are entitled to

right to:

a) access to the content of the data, pursuant to art. 15 of the GDPR, with the proviso that the personal data provided may not disclose classified information or violate legally protected secrets, which the Administrator is obliged to keep,
b) rectification of data, pursuant to art. 16 GDPR;
c) restrictions on data processing, pursuant to art. 18 GDPR;
d) object to the processing of data, pursuant to art. 21 GDPR,

with the proviso that this does not apply to cases where the Administrator has the right to process data on the basis of legal provisions,

e) if data processing is based on consent, it may be withdrawn at any time, without affecting the legality of the processing carried out on its basis before its withdrawal; consent may be withdrawn by sending appropriate information to the Administrator’s address in accordance with Article 17 of the GDPR.

7) Based on the collected personal data, the Administrator will not make automated decisions towards you, including decisions resulting from profiling.

8) You have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection when you feel that the processing of your personal data violates the applicable provisions of the Regulation.

9) Your data will be stored as long as it is necessary to perform all obligations arising from the regulations and your consents, if any, including those specified in the regulations on the storage and archiving of documentation.
